For safety reasons, the school doors will be locked 15 minutes after arrival times and unlocked 5 minutes prior to dismissals.  Use the door bell, located at the office or church side entrance, if you need admittance prior to regular dismissal times.  You will them be escorted into the building.

No one enters the building un-escorted.

If your child is due to arrive at 9:00 a.m. or 1:00 p.m., please have them arrive at school no sooner than 8:55 a.m. or 12:55 p.m.  Teachers use before class time to gather for prayer, prepare their classrooms for the day and are not free to supervise the children.  We also strongly encourage you to be prompt; constant lateness is a problem.  Not only is the child missing part of the day and their lesson, but it also disrupts the harmony of the entire classroom.  Each child must be escorted to their classroom by an adult and signed in; noting time of arrival. Never drop off your child at the door and assume that they will come inside their classroom. This practice is unsafe and can be very frightening to a child.  Please use this time to greet your child’s teacher, view bulletin boards that display classroom work, and tell your teacher any special needs that you may have for the day.

Children’s Garden reserves the right to refuse to release a child to any parent/guardian or approved escort who is under the influence, or in any way impaired and it is determined that the child’s safety would be compromised.  The child’s next approved escort would then be contacted and requested to pick the child up while a staff member remained with the child.  If we cannot make alternative arrangements, a staff member shall call the Division’s 24-hour Child Abuse Hotline to seek assistance in caring for the child.

It is important to us, as well as your child, that you make every effort to pick up your child at dismissal time, 12 noon or 4:00 p.m.  If you know that you are going to be detained, please call the school immediately so that we may reassure your child.  You must sign your child out to verify that he/she was picked up by an (only) authorized adult. If this is the first time an authorized adult is picking up they will be asked for their driver’s license as proof of ID.   Encourage your child to remain in their seat.  This will eliminate darting out of the room into the hall at dismissal time.

Continual lateness may result in overtime charges of $5.00 per every 10 minutes past dismissal time.  We also reserve the right to withdraw your child from our school if this policy is abused.

Again, if you are unexpectedly detained, please notify the school immediately so that your classroom teacher is made aware of the problem and she can reassure your child.

No child will be released to a person not authorized by the parents to pick up a child. All authorized persons will sign out the child on the classroom’s sign-out sheet. Unfamiliar authorized persons who do not ordinarily pick up a child will be asked to show a valid N.J. driver’s license as proof of identification.  The child will then be released after the driver’s license number has been noted on the classroom sign-out sheet, and the teacher feels that I.D. has been proven.  We must have parental verbal consent, or in writing, before we will release a child to anyone other than those listed as approved escorts on the child’s registration form.  If at any time a parent wishes to add /change an escort they must put their request in writing, The teacher will attach new authorization to the child’s permanent records.
